THE SMALL HALL (1832 >)
In 1832 this small Sunday School/Reading Room was gifted to the people of Middleton and Aislaby through a deed of trust which required the good offices of stalwart members of the community to be responsible for its use and development. From that date the hall has been used continuously as a venue for a variety of community and recreational activities including table tennis , a youth club, a Sunday School Reading Room and for pantomime rehearsals. Today the hall is used by lace makers, artists, Keep Fit groups, training organisations, care providers, local veterinary information workshops, art exhibitions, a musical groups and band practice room and charity shops.
In 2017 plans were developed to improve the facilities by installing a new uni-sex toilet that met the required standards for use by people with disabilities. A new kitchen is now installed that has upgraded the hall to make it attractive for user groups and hopefully enable us to develop a range of activities that will encourage villagers to attend.
The car park refurbishment provided us with the opportunity to link both halls with a superb walkway, enabling access to all parts of both buildings.
The Wilf Ward Family Trust said, 'We love this hall, it is just the right size and we can create a really good ambience for our training'
'The new kitchen and toilet make this a perfect venue for our activities'
Improved AccessThe new pathway links the two halls and the car park improves access for all users. Installation of outside lighting enhances the provision. The newly installed shed (2.2.2022) offers additional storage.
